Achieving flexible technology transfer for a consumer products business

We worked with a well known consumer products business on licensing speech recognition technology to one of the world’s largest technology businesses.

The technology in question had a large number of potential applications. The key to the arrangement was to allow both parties to continue to develop the technology and seek new uses in different markets. The licence also needed to be carefully structured to allow the licensee to continue to allow its end-users to use the technology after the licence had terminated without depriving the licensor of the income such continued use would generate. The licence is still active today, as the parties continue to find new fields in which to exploit the technology.
