We advised a leading online retailer on the legality of selling a variety products on its US site to other countries worldwide. We sought local advice across 19 countries. The review focussed on particular products including: media products, consumer electronics, medical and nutritional products, cosmetics goods, tools and knives. The work involved identifying the relevant laws which may applicable to different products (e.g. requirements for marking), and determining who would be liable for compliance. We co-ordinated the country responses, seeking clarifications where necessary and provided summaries and a risk analysis to the client.
